32% computers still get virus infection despite presence of antivirus software

Do you know that 32 percents of PCs still get infected by malware or virus despite presence of antivirus software? Hmm….. So, what can we do to protect our computers from getting infected?

1. Stay away from the Internet (Just kidding)
2. Switch to Mac (I am serious!)
3. Free Antivirus such as Microsoft Security Essential - If all the antivirus programs can only do the basic job, why do you spend money to buy one? A free Microsoft Security Essential can protect your computer just like other paid software.
4. Windows update - Keep your computer up-to-date can prevent it from getting malicious software.
5. Scan computer using antivirus software from other vendor - Relying on a single vendor of antivirus won't protect your computer from any sort of malware. You need to scan your computer using antivirus software other than your current one on a regular basis. I highly recommend Malwarebytes.org. No need to buy a Pro version. Free version is good enough as long as you scan your computer on a regular basis.
6. Never click "Typical" installation - When you download software from the Internet, remember to click "Custom" installation and remove any unknown software that it comes with. For example, Java update always install "Ask Toolbar" by default. "Ask Toolbar" is a malware that it will install other software without your consent and it will change your home page to Ask.com.
